10 years and 5 billion views: PragerU is the undeniable conservative media leader of the next generation

May 07, 2021

LOS ANGELES — Ahead of its 10 year anniversary, PragerU’s online videos surpassed the 5 billion views mark across its digital platforms Friday, cementing its place as the trusted source for conservative content for the next generation. Added to its staple menu of 5-minute videos — which made PragerU the go-to site for bite-sized explainers on conservative ideas — is a variety of new content including its newest education initiative, PragerU Resources for Educators and Parents (PREP), which offers shows, activities, book lists, study guides, playlists and more for elementary, middle and high school students.

Additionally, PragerU has released a new documentary-style series called “Stories of Us,” which tells the stories of Americans who have denounced leftism and are helping others see through leftist manipulation. The most recent episodes unmask the oppression of left-wing “wokeism” in Hollywood.

PragerU has recruited a number of new conservative personalities to its platform, including former left-wing activist and Gen Z social media influencer, Amala Ekpunobi (@theamalaekpunobi) and former television host and contributor to multiple parenting blogs, Jill Simonian.

“We celebrate the 5 billion mark as proof that PragerU has become the trusted conservative media powerhouse at the forefront of proclaiming the truth of America’s founding ideas,” says Marissa Streit, CEO of PragerU.

recent Forbes article ranked PragerU number one among free-market organizations for Facebook likes (3.85 million), most Twitter followers (537,000), most subscribers to a YouTube channel (2.88 million), most views of YouTube video uploaded in the past 12 months, 2 minutes or longer (9.4 million) and most Instagram followers (1.6 million) in the “leaders in pro-free-market videos, magazines and news outlets” category.

More than 60% of PragerU’s viewers on YouTube are under the age of 35, and 58% of viewers have said that they have changed their mind on an issue after watching 11 to 50 PragerU videos. In 2019, PragerU launched a mobile app with its videos hosted natively to gain more independence from the Big Tech platforms. To date, the app has been downloaded more than 500,000 times.

In April, the social media giant TikTok permanently banned PragerU and Ekpunobi from the platform, citing “multiple violations” of its community guidelines with no explanation or way to appeal the decision. Prior to the ban, PragerU’s videos had reached millions of TikTok viewers around the world. Aside from its content, PragerU has fought for America’s founding principle of free speech via two lawsuits against Google/YouTube (one federal, one in California state court) which alleged Big Tech companies infringed upon PragerU’s First Amendment rights.

“It’s because of our success that Big Tech companies like Google, YouTube, and TikTok continue to restrict our videos,” says Craig Strazzeri, CMO of PragerU. “They want to silence us, but we will not let them intimidate us.”
